0 = PII
What is zero-PII?
PII stands for personally identifiable information: the names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, faces and ID numbers that most apps collect at sign-up and keep for years. A zero-PII service is designed so that this information is never collected and never stored in plain text.
Most privacy promises are about protecting the personal data a company holds. Zero-PII removes the data instead. Every data breach exposes something a company chose to keep, and a service that never keeps personal information has none of it to lose.
How PRUF.NET applies it
PRUF.NET confirms that a live human is creating each account, using Face ID, a live-person check and the iPhone’s hardware key. Both checks run on the device. PRUF never receives facial data, and it never asks for a name, email, phone number, password or government ID.
Zero-PII is not anonymity
Anonymous platforms let anyone in, including bots. PRUF.NET knows every account belongs to a real person holding a real phone. It just doesn’t know which person. Authentication without identification.
